Found only in the cliffs of Mauritius, the flowers of the Nesocodon mauritianus (Mauritian Bloody bell flower) produce blood-red nectar, one of only three plants that do this. Recent studies have shown that at least two of the three Mauritian plant species with coloured nectar are pollinated by geckos.
